Daktronics and PRO LAB partner for Riyadh Front Mall

PRO LAB, has announced the completion of a sale to Daktronics, a company manufacturing large-format display products. For a project involving the installation of 535m² of LED video displays at the Riyadh Front Mall, an esports venue in Saudi Arabia, Daktronics utilised 11 units of the Dataton Watchpax 60, a brand represented by PRO LAB in the GCC and MENA regions.

Daktronics felt that the Watchpax 60 series was a suitable solution for the project, which required demanding applications such as live events and broadcast installations. Andrew Gorder, senior project manager, Daktronics, said: "The main benefit of choosing Watchout was the capacity for controlling large resolution displays while maintaining the image to be in sync. Watchout also has the capacity for virtual displays, allowing for better utilisation of non-standard resolutions which are typical of LED displays that fill a space, rather than achieving a specific broadcast resolution.”

The largest of the displays was 14,720 pixels x 4,680 pixels (WxH), which was controlled from nine outputs from three different WATCHPAX 60 Model Bs. The software allowed Daktronics to create and play one large image or multiple smaller zones. The Watchout system also runs the main arena screen, with two additional large displays, 11 columns and seven small informational screens.

“PRO LAB was very supportive through the procurement process and assisted with working through some challenges on importation into Saudi Arabia. They hosted our technical team and were very supportive in demonstrating the software and its capabilities. They did such a great job through this training in Dubai, and with software that’s very intuitive to use, we were able to do all the necessary commissioning and training without any onsite support from PRO LAB,” said Gorder.
