Saved settings with Portacapture upgrade
Only a few months after the release of Tascam’s Portacapture X6 32-bit float audio recorder, the company has issued a V1.10 firmware update to introduce a number of operational enhancements. The upgrade includes the ability to save three device settings and three recording app settings to provide quick access to configurations for different recording projects, with each easily recalled from the launcher screen.
Users can also store presets for input parameters such as low-cut filter, compressor, limiter, auto gain control and noise gate, while the update adds support for 32-bit float point resolution when using the recorder as a USB interface.
Other upgrades include wireless timecode synchronisation with compatible Atomos products to simplify the postproduction process for video recordings; updates to the product’s Portacapture Control remote app, which can now maintain background communication when the smartphone or tablet computer enters energy-saving; and a new firmware update for Windows and macOS which searches the Tascam web server and automatically updates the unit.
Meanwhile, USB Mix Minus eliminates echoes from remote participants when recording podcasts. Users can also select the sound pads and USB as input signals to monitor and record sound effects and audio from conferencing software such as Skype, Zoom and Teams.
