Inside look: Planet Word
Introducing Planet Word, the world’s first voice-activated museum, aptly located at the historic site of the very first wireless telephone message, sent by Alexander Graham Bell in 1880. A perfect showcase of the advances made in both voice technology and museum interactives, D.C.’s Planet Word utilizes augmented reality, voice recognition, and many more clever tricks to shift the way we interact with media.
Barry Mendelson, AV Systems Programmer of Exhibit AV Integration firm, Solomon Group, will walk us through how his team created the tech that powers a first-of-its-kind museum – and accomplished it all at the height of a pandemic.
Planet Word features ten technology-driven galleries, including a beautiful library with handcrafted cabinetry and flawlessly integrated interactive experiences, a curved media spiral, and a voice-activated “Word Wall,” a 22 ft by 40 ft wall that appears sentient, projecting animations in response to visitors’ speech, and getting smarter each time.
