Martin Audio reveals CDD Installation Series updates

In a drive to meet the growing needs of installation applications, Martin Audio has announced new additions and upgraded voicing for its CDD series. Originally launched in 2015, the CDD series comprises distinctive curved enclosures with patent protected Coaxial Differential Dispersion technology to deliver high fidelity performance and consistent coverage at a competitive price point. Martin Audio has further extended the range with both weatherised and marine editions to cater for all outdoor environments including cruise ships.

During the pandemic, Martin Audio recorded buoyant sales across a growing number of small to medium installations including bars and restaurants upgrading systems or extending to outdoor areas to better cater for clientele in changing conditions. In addition, the U.K. manufacturer has supplied houses of worship adapting to socially distanced congregations where the need for improved coverage and consistency has been paramount. A rising number of educational facilities have also demanded better solutions to manage socially distanced students.

Martin Audio is further maximising the potential of the CDD series by increasing production capacity including improved supplier sources. In addition, the normal UPM Formi cabinet construction of the 12- and 15-inch models has been changed to wooden enclosures. “The 12- and 15-inch models in particular have always experienced capacity constraints,” comments Martin Audio MD Dom Harter. “By moving to wooden enclosures and using innovative bended wood techniques, we have not only been able to retain the classic aesthetics of the CDD design and performance, but now have the capability to increase production by tenfold.”

Product lines have been extended to include 70V / 100V transformer and weatherised variants of the 8- and 10-inch models, enabling daisy chaining of loudspeakers for increased amplifier efficiency in larger installation projects. Voicing across the series has also been updated straight out of the box to provide consistency across the family. “We have experienced increased requests for additional transformer versions to complement the current 5- and 6-inch transformer models, as larger scale projects are all about efficiency of the installation,” adds Harter.

New DSP settings have been added across the range to reflect current voicing. These are available to complement any amplifier solution, although new FIR-based presets for iKON amplifiers and DX4.0 controller further enhance the audio performance qualities. New CDD voicing settings are available to download, wooden cabinet changes are available from January and the transformer additions follow in February.
