ETC chosen for state-of-the-art new Al Arabiya studio

ETC lighting solutions have been selected for the brand-new TV studios of leading Middle East news channel, Al Arabiya. ETC dealer Oasis Enterprises supplied a range of equipment including a Sensor3 power control system, Gio @5 Eos-family control console, Response Mk2 DMX gateways and a DataTrack backbone system. Having enjoyed a long relationship spanning 12 years, the teams at Oasis and Al Arabiya were able to work together to execute the lighting upgrade in just three weeks.

“The news programme is a 24-hour show and requires the best and most reliable equipment,” commented Safwan Harcouss, lighting manager at Al Arabiya. “Having worked successfully with ETC products in the past, we are confident that the new additions will perform well.”

Last year, the broadcaster added an ETC Eos Ti console desk to its production studios. The flagship console’s features have reportedly proven valuable in controlling the lighting across multiple studios at a time. Now, with the addition of a Gio @5 in the new studios, the lighting team at Al Arabiya can take full advantage of the same range of options available with Eos software but in a more compact but versatile console.

ETC’s Sensor3 Power Control system brings power and dimming control to the broadcast environment. Oasis also upgraded the studios with ETC’s network infrastructure and Response Mk2 DMX Gateways, as well as implementing a DataTrack Backbone into the 3m- high space. The DataTrack Backbone has a strong aluminium frame for track lighting which is capable of holding full-sized fixtures. Its design means the new studios can benefit from equipment with minimum visual impact that can deliver maximum light.

“We have worked closely with Al Arabiya for many years and they already have experience of the high quality that ETC products bring,” commented Karim Abdel Massih, lighting systems manager at Oasis Enterprises. “We know that these new additions to their latest TV studios will work well and look forward to seeing new ETC product releases.”
