Lectrosonics appoints Jimmy Yap as APAC representative
Lectrosonics has announced the appointment of Jimmy Yap as its new technical representative for the Asia Pacific region. Based in Cambodia, Yap will represent the US wireless microphone systems manufacturer by supporting dealers, end users and future customers throughout the entire territory including China.
Having held executive positions at his own company in addition to a variety of industry manufacturers, Yap joins Lectrosonics with a broad spectrum of education and career experience within A/V, including technical engineering, distribution and sales. Before the inception of his AV Designs & Consulting Engineers in 2012, Yap held regional product specialist and technical consultant positions for manufacturers such as QSC and Singaporean distributor Coda Audio. He also operated as a systems designer and engineer at several consulting companies and houses of worship including All Good Gifts, Faith Community Baptist Church and Bethel Assembly of God in Singapore. Having attained a diploma in Audio Engineering from School of Audio Engineering (SAE) Singapore, he also graduated in Music Production at Southern Cross University in Sydney, Australia.
‘I’m really excited to add Jimmy to our team,’ commented Karl Winkler, VP sales/service at Lectrosonics. ‘His breadth of experience in the field, his energy level, his easy going nature and his hands-on knowledge of audio are all important assets for the company and our upcoming efforts in the region.’
Added Yap: ‘I have always regarded Lectrosonics to be the Rolls Royce of wireless, so it is a great honour for me to be working with the company. Upon visiting the Lectrosonics headquarters in New Mexico, not only did it reinforce the phenomenal brand quality that everyone in the industry already recognises, but I also got to meet the many staff members who have worked at the company for as much as 30 years. Lectrosonics is a company who cares deeply for its people, its staff and its clients, and I hope to extend this throughout the APAC region.’
