Silex Insight becomes member of AIMS

The Alliance for IP Media Solutions (AIMS) has welcomed Silex Insight, a supplier of image/video compression and OEM solutions such as the OEM board (VIPER) and video IP codec, as its latest member. Silex Insight will be helping other AIMS members with promoting and educating individuals about the AIMS’ Internet Protocol Media Experience (IPMX), which has reportedly gained traction in the AV industry since its release at ISE 2020.

The IPMX is a set of standards-based protocols for interoperability for AV-over-IP and enables carriage of compressed and uncompressed video, audio and data over IP networks. The protocol also includes AMWA NMOS IS-04 and IS-05 for discovery and registration, alongside connection management and specifications for copy protection and security.

‘We’re so pleased that leading AV supplier Silex Insight is now part of AIMS, as the company’s perspective and expertise will inform further work in the migration to AV-over-IP,’ said David Chiappini, chair of AIMS’ ProAV working group. ‘IMPX has drawn a great deal of interest since its introduction earlier this year, and we look forward to working with Silex Insight and other AIMS member companies to continue educating the pro AV industry on how IPMX support enables true interoperability.’

Jean-Marie Cloquet, chief technology officer of Silex Insight, added: ‘We've been committed for many years to open standards such as SMPTE 2110 and AES67 with our VIPER AVoIP platform. We're thrilled to join an alliance that carries the same beliefs to create true interoperability in the AVoIP world.’
