Last SES brings Rob Allan Avid mixing workshop to Istanbul

Turkey:

Rob Allan’s Live Mixing Seminar was recently hosted by Avid and its new Turkish live sound partner Last SES in Istanbul. Held at the Elit World Hotel, the event welcomed approximately 40 top sound engineers from the region.

The two-day training session presented by the Massive Attack, Coldplay and Radiohead FOH engineer focused on Avid’s VENUE | S6L system and also served as the official announcement of the SES partnership in Turkey. Allan is an Avid live sound consoles product designer. The sessions included an overview of the VENUE system, its components and key technologies, a lesson on how to mix more efficiently with the Universe and touchscreen workflows, and an exploration of the how to use VENUE software and work with the I/O processing channels.

Following the session, attendee Mustafa Yalcin Kaya, who is a current user of Avid’s S3 solution, commented that ‘the [S6L] console can do practically whatever we can imagine during live shows and broadcast operations.’

‘Avid has ensured that the preamp and converter quality of the console is very too, which was already better than most of the competition,’ attendee and FOH engineer Erim Arkma. ‘The processing power of the S6L is really impressive and allows the engineer mix using his/her workflow quickly. The console is really fast, and the programming abilities such as adding snapshots, events and customising all buttons, layers and faders allows you to build your a console according to your needs.’

‘It was great to catch up with some top Turkish sound engineers, some of them being old friends, but also good to some new members from Turkey’s vibrant live sound community,’ concluded Allan. There was genuine excitement about the S6L and its versatility in the lively and interactive training sessions. Last SES organised the events impeccably and were generous hosts.’
