Swedish House Mafia at Diriyah Season

Saudi Arabia:

Swedish House Mafia recently performed in Saudi Arabia as part of the Diriyah Season festival. The concert’s promotor, Live Nation Middle East, appointed MediaPro International to handle the technical production and provide a complete turnkey solution that included audio, lighting, video, trussing and rigging.

The MediaPro team looked to Swedish House Mafia’s gig at the Tele2 Arena in Stockholm earlier in 2019 for inspiration, recreating the set with a 56m x 15m Unilumin ULS 5.95mm LED screen serving as the main backdrop to the stage. Visuals were managed using four disguise 4x4pro processors and an Analog Way Aquilon RS4 4K/8K multi-screen presentation system and videowall processor with four 4K 60Hz outputs.

As for lighting, 91 Robe MegaPointes lined the upper edge of the LED screen. In addition, 10 Claypaky Sharpy Wash 330 washlights lit up the Swedish house trio of Axwell, Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso, while 16 Scenius Profiles provided floor and back lighting.

The rig itself included Swedish House Mafia’s three signature rings, as well as a trio of 5m circular dia trusses, which were automated using 12 Kinesys one-ton hoists and three half-ton hoists with libra cell control via the Kinesys Vector motion control software. The rings were equipped with 157 GLP impression X4 Bar 10 and 50 impression X4 Bar 20 battens with 56 TMB Solaris Flare outdoor RGBW long-throw fixtures and 102 EK Lights Color Ranger Q27 washes.

All lighting was programmed and managed with a pair of MA Lighting grandMA2 full size consoles and one MA2 lite.

The sound setup, meanwhile, was formed from L-Acoustics solutions, including 40 K1 and 48 K2 tops, 18 Kara elements, 16 K1SB and 40 KS28 subwoofers. An SSL 500 managed the mix at FOH, while a DiGiCo SD10 was employed for monitors.
