Ncam Technologies has appointed Mike Ruddell to the position of global business development director of sports and broadcast. Ruddell will help to develop Ncam’s presence in the sports market as well as growing Ncam’s core markets: broadcast graphics, film and TV VFX, sports and enterprise AR.

Ruddell has worked within the field of sports and broadcasting technology for over 19 years. He started his career as a technical director at Sky, working on a range of studio programming including news, sport, factual and entertainment. He then specialised in developing production techniques and technologies for Red Button sporting events. Ruddell was appointed to head of technology at Sky Sports in 2007 which allowed him to focus on a variety of technology applications as well as remodelling the approach to developing, delivering and supporting technology within the company. He then became an innovation manager at Sky Sports where he owned the roadmap for advanced TV production process and technology for the leading sports channel.

‘We’re pleased to welcome Mike to the Ncam team,’ said Nic Hatch, CEO of Ncam. ‘AR is becoming more accessible than ever, and Mike’s extensive, real-world knowledge of broadcast sports technology together with his drive to seek new innovations will help us in developing our current and future products that will continue to push the possibilities within sports broadcasting.’

Ruddell commented: ‘I’m delighted to join Ncam at such an exciting time. We have only scratched the surface of augmented reality and its possibilities, and I am excited to have the opportunity to bring Ncam’s advanced technology to a wider audience.’
