During their Twenty Tour, Westlife recently stopped at Dubai’s Coca-Cola Arena. This was supported by eclipse, who provided the audio, video and lighting as well as the rigging support for the concert.

A fully ArrayProcessed d&b audiotechnik loudsystem system was chosen for the audio, which included a main PA of 12 J8 and four J12 line arrays and two hangs of eight J-SUBs. A total of 16 d&b V8s and eight V12s were used as out-fills across the stage’s edges while six J-Infra subs were installed in a sub-array configuration with eight Y8s for the front-fills, which were all driven by 34 D80 amplifiers. A DiGiCo SD11 console was used for control along with an SD7 for the FOH position and an SD12 for monitors. Meyer Sound MJF-212A wedges were used for the monitors.

For the lighting system, eight truss-mounted Lycian followspots were used; four were at the front while four were at the back. This was combined with 48 Robe Robin BMFL Blades and 32 Claypaky Stormys. The floor package included 16 Claypaky Mythos 2s and 10 Martin Professional MAC Auras. At both sides of the stage, two 9m towers were installed alongside 32 Chauvet Professional Colorado Batten 144s with 20 Claypaky Mythos 2s rigged at different intervals. Two MA lighting grandMAs were used with Luminex GigaCore 16RFO switches for control and networking.

For the video, eclipse provided in-house IMAG screens which were displayed on either side of the stage. This included a large upstage 4.8mm LED screen at 17m x 8.5m. This displayed a combination of live camera feeds of onstage and pre-created visuals provided by the touring company.

‘All these fixtures were specified by the tour during the early design stages,’ commented Sam Connolly, eclipse staging services’ senior lighting technician. ‘We had to ensure that the design meets the technical specifications and tailored in a few alterations to fit into the venue, but we were able to provide exactly what was required to keep almost the same look and feel to the show as when it tours in countries around the world.’
