South Africa:

Prosound was recently approached by long-time client Max Jele from the Montecasino in Johannesburg and tasked with bringing to life one of the dragons that line adorn the walls of the gambling and entertainment complex. Jele challenged the Prosound team to device a solution capable of making the dragon breath ‘fire and fury’.

The obvious solution was for Prosound to integrate a smoke machine, however the problem with this was that condensation was forming around the dragon’s mouth, creating it to 'drool'.

Drawing on its vast experience in live entertainment, Prosound devised a customised solution that included a Look Solutions Viper S smoke machine with an extended hose that then stopped far away from the mouth of the dragon to prevent any unwanted drippage. The Viper S was then linked up to the Raspberry Pi being used to trigger the rest of the dragon effects using an ENTTEC DMX USB Pro device.

‘The compact design of the Viper S smoke machine was key, allowing it to be hidden in the surrounding scenery of the venue so that it doesn’t ruin the immersive effect,’ noted Prosound’s Siphelele ‘PEPE’ Khumalo. ‘And because the Look Solutions products are designed and used in venues all over the world where performance and reliability are non-negotiable, Montecasino can be rest assured that their dragon will flame without fizzling out.’
