The World Travel Awards event took place in Mauritius, serving as a regional event for Africa and the Indian Ocean before the grand finals take place in Oman later this year. Local rental company Seven Amps provided the technical setup for the event, which was held at the Sugar Beach Hotel in Flic-en-Flac, including indoor and outdoor lighting using fixtures from Elation and its sister brand ADJ, with trussing from DuraTruss.
The outdoor lighting setup was deployed outside the venue’s stately manor house, in what was used as a cocktail area, while the indoor lighting rig was employed in the marquee.
‘We needed an IP-rated LED PAR light and wash panel for the outdoor lighting and chose Elation SixPARs and ADJ Hex Panels, both weatherproof products that performed very well,’ said Mervyn Palan of Seven Amps. ‘Inside the awards ceremony, we had a rig of Elation LED Fresnels, profiles and PARs with beam and spot moving heads. We are happy with the Elation products and their performance.’
A total of 40 IP65-rated SixPAR 300IP LED PAR lights lit up the cocktail area and the live band. Meanwhile, 20 SixPAR 200IP and 12 ADJ 32 HEX Panel IP fixtures illuminated the long façade of the manor house. In addition, 12 Elation Design LED Strips and six IP65-rated Elar EX Tribar linear LED lights were employed at the photo, interview and winners’ booths.
Inside the marquee, eight Elation DW Fresnel, four WW Profile and four LED SixPAR 300IP fixtures were used for front and side lighting on the stage, with eight Platinum HFX, eight Platinum Beam 15R Extreme moving heads and five Fuze PAR Z175 fixtures providing back lighting. Table and house lighting were delivered by 52 ADJ PAR Z120 RGBW luminaires.
