Connector manufacturer Neutrik has outlined the ‘determined offensive’ it undertook at this year’s Frankfurt Prolight + Sound exhibition to tackle product piracy. At the manufacturer’s request, police seized products described by Neutrik as clearly violating intellectual property rights, in addition to issuing cease and desist warnings to companies concerned and launching further legal action.

‘We want to generate real customer added value with our products and to protect that value,’ commented René Kleiner, CTO of the Neutrik Group. ‘That requires maintaining global patents and trademarks, which, while very costly, form an important part of our innovation culture. If our competitors now ruthlessly flout these intellectual property rights, we shall consistently take all the legal measures at our disposal to stop this.’

The company added that further action has already been planned for future trade fairs, in addition to the instigation of legal proceedings in China.
