Bimel builds AV infrastructure at Tusdata HQ

Turkey:

Bimel recently completed a major project at the Ankara headquarters of Tusdata, in which it was responsible for designing and installing the entire AV infrastructure, as well as training Tusdata staff on the new equipment. An integral part of the installation is formed from Aten products used for AV distribution in the facility’s classrooms and as digital signage solutions. These solutions are controlled via an Aten VK2100 control box.

‘We previously provided a solution for Tusdata’s network in another office,’ explained Muttalip Baksi, technical director at Bimel. ‘Their IT team regularly works with us and when Tusdata decided to move to their new HQ in Ankara, the IT team consulted about their needs and we provided a complete solution for their new location.’

In addition to needing a new network infrastructure and security system, Tusdata decided to include interactive classrooms for online and offline lectures at its new HQ. ‘When a professor gives a lecture in the classroom, their presentation and video footage should be displayed on the projectors in the same classroom, and perhaps in the other classrooms depending on seat availability,’ said Mr Baksi. ‘The lecture will also be recorded for offline use and a digital signage system is required for the screens on the floors to play commercial content and announcements.’

Bimel designed a network with full compatibility with the Aten products for a number of reasons, including the flexibility provided by the over-IP solutions, their reliability, and the ease of use offered to end users; lecturers are able to prepare the classrooms using a tablet. The installation comprised eight VE8900 Tx HDMI over IP extenders, 17 VE8900 Rx HDMI over IP receivers, five VS0108HA eight-port 4K HDMI splitters, five VS98A eight-port VGA splitters and five VC180 VGA-to-HDMI converters with audio.

‘The entire project took around two and a half months,’ said Mr Baksi. ‘We started with their basic needs, then designed the whole system. The AV distribution system was first designed based on HDBaseT technology, but the cabling distances between the floors were beyond its limits, so we switched the design to an over-IP solution in order to overcome the distance issue.’

Tusdata’s IT manager, Serhat Aydin, was searching for smooth AV transmission across the site. ‘We achieved this goal with the infrastructure designed and installed by Bimel,’ he commented. ‘Now, we can stream AV signals across our five classrooms and over digital signage system easily and flawlessly.’
