South Africa:

Sennheiser Electronic SA (Pty) Ltd hosted a pair of Sound Academy workshops recently at The Venue in Midrand and the Commodore Hotel in Cape Town with support from its local distributors, Stage Audio Works and Mitech Direct. The workshops were presented by wireless RF technologies expert Jonas Naesby and gave the attendees an overview of some of the manufacturer's latest wireless products.

‘The Sennheiser Technology days showcased a new line-up of best in class wireless microphones and valuable insight into the technology behind these product thanks to presenter Jonas Naesby,’ explained James Futter, GM of Sennhesier SA. ‘We were extremely delighted at the fabulous turnout to both events, with very positive feedback from participants and we look forward to hosting the event again in the near future.’

Mr Naesby has designed, implemented and managed some of the most complex wireless systems in the world, including several Melodi Grand Prix shows and many theatres and installations at national TV stations across northern Europe. He regularly consults with the European Supervisory Authorities on questions regarding the wireless spectrum of microphone signals and is highly sought after as a technical consultant and trainer in RF. Joining him for the presentations were Uwe Marks from Sennheiser GmbH and Lisa Kane from Sennheiser Ireland, together with local guest speakers.

In addition to discussions on analogue vs digital technology, and which Sennheiser products fit where in the frequency spectrum, attendees engaged with the session via the new Mobile Connect technology while receiving presentations on the Memory Mic, the new XSW Digital product line up, as well as the XSW, Evolution G4, IEM G4, Digital 6000 and 9000 series.

‘The XS Wireless is an amazing piece of technology,’ stated Robyn Ferguson of Mitech Direct. ‘Setup is incredibly quick and easy and for musicians on the road that's very important. There's also no worry about extra cables or hooking up a receiver – it's by far the fastest “plug and play” wireless system I've encountered to date. Sennheiser makes some amazing products and it is always an honour working with the team.’
