Close to 400 Robe ParFect S1 LED luminaires have been installed by Aktco to illuminate the recently-opened Royal Tank Museum in Amman.
The lighting project, which saw Aktco’s CEO Nidal Khalifeh, project manager George Boury and design engineer Duaa’ Khraim team up with Robe Middle East’s Elie Battah, called for the installation of the LED fixtures across 12 halls of the 20,000m2 museum that opened in January 2018 and showcases 110 tanks from various conflicts in the Middle East and beyond in the last century.
‘This dramatic environment needed careful lighting’ explained Mr Khalifeh. ‘We really needed very high powered and precise luminaires that didn’t consume too much power and would be tough and hardwearing as they are on for very long periods each day. We knew we could rely on the proven quality of Robe. Light sources that would not deteriorate were also a consideration.’
The installation’s biggest challenge was in lighting the vast spaces and illuminating the military relics and artillery. The ParFects were installed on gantries and trusses in the roof are controlled via a PC-based system that also handles the building control. The fixtures can be remotely accessed via an iPad app for tweaking.
During the tender process, Aktco had opted for the ParFect S1s for their 'high quality and clarity of the light output and the range of tuneable whites' but to also 'provide a long-term low maintenance and aesthetically pleasing solution'.
